We Offer Medical AND Recreational Marijuana

Cooperative, Medical Marijuana, Updates

Leave it To Nature now offers both medical and recreational marijuana.

We’ve always put our patients first:

We want folks to get the best quality marijuana that helps minimize symptoms to treat their medical needs.

And now we are thrilled to be able to serve all people who enjoy weed in Shasta Lake.

What’s the difference between medicinal weed and recreational weed?

Marijuana legalization for medical marijuana and recreational marijuana happened at two very different times in California.

Medical Marijuana Legalization:

Medical cannabis was legalized back in 1996. All adults would need is a medical card as recommended from a professional to have access to purchase weed. Marijuana dispensaries (only medical) sprouted all over the state in the late 90s.

Recreational Marijuana Legalization:

Since then, there’s been a push to get recreational marijuana legalized. The first recreational marijuana states were Colorado and Washington in 2012.

While it took California an extra six years to legalize weed, recreational weed was legalized as of January 1, 2018.

Medicinal Marijuana Uses:

Medical marijuana is when the using part of the marijuana plant to alleviate the symptoms of certain medical imbalances, whether that be disease or other medical conditions.

Usually, medical marijuana focuses more on CBD (Cannabidiol), which has no psychoactive effects but has been shown to have an array of health benefits.

That does not mean that medical marijuana does not contain THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), which does contain psychoactive effects that get people “high.” It’s just that usually THC is more associated with recreational cannabis.

Recreational Marijuana Uses:

Recreational marijuana is used for just that – recreation.

The weed usually has a higher concentration of THC, as I mentioned above.

And because they have officially legalized weed in California, people over the age of 21 can purchase it.

Let’s say you may be eligible for a medical card, but aren’t sure if you need it since recreational weed is legal. What should you do?

You need to weigh the advantages of medical marijuana and recreational marijuana to determine which is better for you.

Advantages of Medicinal Marijuana:

  1. Oftentimes medical marijuana dispensaries will give discounts to those folks using marijuana to treat their illness.
  2. You can grow your own weed: While a lot of medical marijuana folks prefer to purchase weed from a dispensary since it’s regulated by the state (to ensure quality and THC/CBD levels), others prefer to grow their own.
  3. You’re potentially more protected: If you get caught in a hairy situation with law enforcement, your medical marijuana card could help get you out of trouble.

Advantages of Recreational Marijuana:

  1. Less bureaucracy: You won’t have to renew your medical card once per year or worry about the process of obtaining one.
  2. You can buy firearms: If you decide to get a medical marijuana card, you are barred from purchasing firearms in the state of California.
  3. Job Searching: Some employers (especially with government jobs), may not like that you have a medical marijuana card. So by simply purchasing through recreational dispensaries, you won’t have to worry about that.
